The German statistics authority Destatis has published the first provisional figures for DIY trade in Germany in 2022. According to these, the sector's turnover, adjusted for inflation, was 1.5 per cent lower than in the previous year. Unadjusted turnover rose by 9.0 per cent. In real terms, the sector only achieved month-on-month growth in January and February - in the high double-digit range due to the lockdown at the beginning of 2021 - and then again in April.

However, the data basis of Destatis differs in some points from the survey on which the German industry association BHB relies.
