As the last guest of his online presentations and workshop talks before the Global DIY-Summit in Copenhagen, moderator Ken Hughes welcomed Garry Ridge, CEO of WD-40 since 1997, to the Global DIY-Network. Culture and leadership are Ridge's main topics, on which he has already published books, and so his dedicated talk was themed "It's all about the people".

Culture = (Values + Behaviour) x Consistency = "what happens when"

Ridge’s analysis: There are too many companies with a "toxic culture", and "disengagement at work is a global epidemic", which is damaging productivity. He explained his attitude, with which he works against this "great escape", in an entertaining and memorable way, for example with his algorithm "Culture = (Values + Behaviour) x Consistency = ‘what happens when’" or with one of his favourite sentences: "Our leaders need to love our people"; a "servant leader" has to be a coach for his people and help them to be happy and enjoy their work more. But not only that: "Happy people create happy families, happy families create happy communities, happy communities create a happy world. And my goodness, we need a happy world!"
