Obi has opened a new DIY concept store in the city centre of Cologne under the name "Obi MachBar" (roughly "the Obi make it bar" as well as "Obi feasible"). With this, the German market leader primarily wants to address a young, urban target group and invite them to do-it-yourself and try things out creatively. The experience workshop, which is unique in Germany, offers a changing monthly programme of DIY workshops and events over around 250 m². Initially set up for twelve months, Cologne's smallest DIY store, according to the company, has a permanent, urban DIY assortment as well as a changing themed monthly product selection on offer.

In July 2019, Obi had already opened a "Create! By Obi Store" at the same address as a predecessor shop and "experimental laboratory" to "Obi MachBar".

DIY International will publish a detailed report on the new concept store in the coming days.
