Malaysian home improvement retailer Mr. DIY has opened its first store in Turkey after announcing its foray into the market last month. The company website states that the maiden outlet is located at Meydan Istanbul AVM, a shopping centre in Ümraniye, İstanbul.
The shop sells hardware, home appliances, electronics, furniture, automobile accessories, stationery and sporting goods, toys, gifts, computer and mobile phone accessories, and jewellery and cosmetics, it added.
Turkey is the ninth market of Malaysia-based Mr. DIY, and its second outside southeast Asia. It is the biggest home improvement retailer in Southeast Asia in terms of reach. Mr. DIY enters into joint ventures with local partners for its overseas operations but does not go into franchising. Its Malaysian company, which oversees Malaysian and Brunei operations, is listed on the country's bourse.
