Cencosud reports record growth in 2020


The Chilean trade company Cencosud has reported a record growth in its home improvement business field last year. Sales increased by 14.6 per cent to CLP 1 294 bn (EUR 1.514 bn). The like-for-like increase net of currency effects amounted to 29.0 per cent. Sales gained online have risen by 125.1 per cent. In the fourth quarter, online sales achieved a share of 8.2 per cent of the overall sales in the home improvement division.
In Chile, throughout the overall year, Cencosud made sales of CLP 726 bn (EUR 849 mio) in this division with 37 Easy stores and thus a plus of 31.0 per cent. In Argentina this was CLP 496 bn (EUR 581 mio) with 51 stores in the sales channels Easy and Blaisten. In local currency, this amounted to an increase of 30.8 per cent, however due to the high level of inflation, the result was a drop of 1.6 per cent in Chilean Pesos. The ten Easy stores in Colombia increased their sales by 1.2 per cent (in local currency 0.7 per cent) to CLP 73 bn (EUR 84 mio).
