Plus of 24 per cent in October the second highest in this year

23.11.2020

The rates of increase by the DIY stores in France rocketed once again in October. Sales lay at 24.01 per cent over the corresponding previous year's level, reports the industry association FMB with reference to the Banque de France. That is the second highest growth rate in this year. The record in 2020 was previously held by June with a plus of almost 30 per cent. From January to October, DIY sales rose by 2.70 per cent compared to the same period last year.
October is "not yet affected by the second confinement" explains FMB chairman Mathieu Pivain. With his statement: "DIY and home improvement are securing their vital place in the lives of the people of France," he certainly also underpinned the - previously not contested - claim of the DIY trade to be classed as essential retail.
