Petrovich, the number two in the Russian home improvement retail segment, achieved growth of 22 per cent in 2019 compared with the previous year, with net sales of more than RUB 60 bn (EUR 746 mio). The sales driver continues to be service; as the company puts it, a convenient purchase format and timely delivery. Last year Petrovich handled more than two million deliveries of building materials. The online share of sales rose to 47 per cent in 2019, according to the data, with the biggest growth coming from the smartphone app.
At the start of March, the St. Petersburg retailer opened another new store in Moscow for the first time in two years. The new store occupies a site covering 19 000 m² including warehouse and retail area. Petrovich has invested RUB 2.3 bn (EUR 30 mio) in this.
"We are not building good old DIY boxes," explains Igor Kolynin, marketing director. "Our shopping centres are logistics hubs with well-thought-out warehouse infrastructure and innovative salesrooms." It is possible to shop, for example, using one's tablet "just by scanning the NFC tags on the goods". Free design studio services are also available to customers.
