Obi has issued a clarification regarding brand use in Russia. With reference to reports in Russian and German-language media about Obi's withdrawal from Russia, the company wishes to clarify that the Obi Group as a company withdrew completely from Russia very quickly after the Russian attack on Ukraine in 2022. “However, the former Russian subsidiaries continued to use the ‘OBI’ brand illegally,” the statement said. “Now that the responsible Russian courts have legally determined that there is no right to use the brand, the former Russian subsidiaries are switching from the ‘OBI’ brand to a new brand. We naturally welcome this, as the Obi Group has been fighting against the unlawful use of the brand for several years now.”
