Thanks to record sales in Christmas trading among other things, the Swedish retailer Clas Ohlson increased its overall sales in the third quarter (November to January) of its fiscal 2015/2016 by four per cent compared with the same period in the previous year, and by seven per cent in local currencies. The volume of sales came to SEK 2.482 bn. Three new stores were added, bringing the number of outlets to 206. In fiscal 2016/2017 the company aims to open ten to 15 new stores, including three in Germany. The first German store is scheduled to open in Hamburg in May 2016.
Clas Ohlson's sales in the first nine months (May to January) amounted to SEK 6.098 bn, five per cent up on the comparable period in the previous year.
