70 Baumax stores sold

According to a number of press reports, 70 stores belonging to the Austrian DIY chain Baumax have been sold. 1 100 employees of the Austrian DIY store operator, slightly more than a third of the workforce as a whole, are now expected to lose their jobs. The sale includes 49 stores in Austria, 14 in Slovakia, five in the Czech Republic and two in Slovenia. 41 locations are to be acquired by the developer Supernova, who is leasing them to Obi. Supernova already owns three Obi sites in Vienna-St. Marx, Graz and in Slovenia.
