Ikea focus on LEDs

As of September 2015 IKEA will only carry LED lamps and lights in its lighting range. With this decision to focus 100 per cent on LED lighting, the company wants to set an example in terms of sustainability, according to a company press release. Due to the low energy consumption, the LED lamps contribute significantly to lowering CO2 emissions. Additionally the lower consumption means lower electricity costs.
“With constantly increasing electricity prices and growing worldwide energy consumption, LEDs are gaining more and more in importance. Based on our belief that everyone should be able to afford a more sustainable life at home, we will offer our LED products at affordable prices”, said Steve Howard, Chief Sustainability Officer of the IKEA Group.
