Head office will then run all 79 big boxes in the Canadian group

The cooperative and franchise central office of Canadian DIY store chain Rona intends to acquire all of the 20 franchise stores affiliated to it. A letter of intent has been signed. The 17 big box DIY stores and three neighbourhood stores involved are operated under the brands Rona, Rona L’entrepôt and Rona Home & Garden. Together they generate annual sales of more than CAD 500 mio. Following the transfer, all 79 big box stores will be run by the head office. “By consolidating these stores, we will be able to simplify our business model and focus on the sales of our independent dealers, who operate over 275 affiliated stores across Canada, and on our network of corporate stores,” says Robert Sawyer, president and CEO of Rona, in support of the takeover.
