Hornbach increases particularly abroad

The German DIY market retailer grew by 1.9 per cent in the first quarter

The German Hornbach Group increased their DIY store revenue by 1.9 per cent to € 995.2 mio in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2015/16 (March to May). On a like-for-like and currency adjusted basis the DIY and garden centre stores couldn’t quite reach the revenue levels of the previous year, which shot up dramatically, but closed with a minus of 1.1 per cent. In the entire Hornbach Holding AG the turnover increased by 1.6 per cent to € 1.0521 bn. On a like-for-like and currency-adjusted basis the corporate group’s turnover likewise remained 1.1 per cent under the previous year’s level.
The revenue of the German Hornbach branches remained relatively stable with a slight increase of 0.2 per cent to € 575.7 mio. On a like-for-like basis the domestic revenue declined by 2.4 per cent.
Outside Germany, in the eight countries where the company has its operations, the revenue rose by 4.3 per cent to € 419.6 mio. The foreign share of the revenue increased from 41.2 per cent to 42.2 per cent. On a like-for-like and currency adjusted basis, the increase in the rest of Europe was 0.7 per cent and with exchange rate effects, 4.0 per cent.
