Homebase growing on the same retail area

The UK chain closed 17 further stores in the first quarter

Homebase, the DIY chain belonging to British retailer Home Retail Group, had sales of GBP 438 mio in the first quarter (ended 30 March 2015) of its current fiscal year. These were down 1.6 per cent on the same period in the previous year. Store closures were responsible for a 7.0 per cent drop, with 17 stores closing during these three months. At the end of the quarter there were 279 Homebase stores. The chain’s sales on a comparable retail area increased by 5.4 per cent.
