But only a quarter of consumers have already bought DIY products on the Internet

More than half of consumers in Europe could see themselves buying DIY products online. However, only a quarter (24 per cent) have ever done it, according to the results of a latest survey as part of USP Marketing Consultancy’s European Home Improvement Monitor. The European average shows that 44 per cent have no clear preference as to whether they buy in a DIY store or online. The most important criteria is the price, trustmarks and familiarity of the retailer.
In Austria, Switzerland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Scandinavia and Spain, the consumers prefer the online stores of brick and mortar DIY operators. On the other hand, the Italians and British prefer non-specialist traders whereas the Belgians and the Poles head mostly for the online shops of manufacturers.
