The new city centre format to be tested in Helsinki

The Finnish DIY store chain K-rauta, part of the Kesko retail group, is planning a new distribution channel for city centre locations under the brand K-rauta Express. The first store is to open in August in Shopping-Center Forum in the Finnish capital Helsinki. Up to two further stores are envisaged for the Helsinki area. A decision will then be taken on whether to take the concept further based on the experience gained.
“The concept is not a larger K-rauta in mini size,” explains Virpi Viinikainen, the director responsible for K-rauta. It is intended to attract customers in the city who don’t use a car. For example, a single visit to the store should facilitate a home renovation thanks to the product and service offering. The range focuses on home furnishings and decoration, paint and tools.
This is how the new city centre format K-rauta Express is to look.
