At its annual results media conference the Swiss DIY chain Coop Bau+Hobby was able to report a slight improvement on the figures announced in advance at the start of January. The 74 stores – an increase of one on the previous year – achieved net sales of CHF 642 mio, equivalent to a decline of 1.0 per cent. “The reasons for this are the declining market and the unfavourable weather conditions,” said Joos Sutter, chair of the managing board of Coop. “In this regressive market Bau+Hobby also gained clear market share.” The company’s retail area increased by 1.3 per cent to 301 941 m² in 2014.
