In the DIY store with Christian Grey

Cable ties, ropes, tape: DIY stores expect “unusual queries“

When the film version of “Fifty Shades of Grey” is released in the European cinemas on Valentine’s Day, this coming Saturday, B&Q want to be prepared. At least this is what The Daily Telegraph reports. According to the report, the British DIY chain has sent out an internal memo, preparing its employees for a possible deluge of customers who may want to do just what the main character, Christian Grey, did in the film: go into a DIY store and buy cable ties, rope and tape. “Rather than being used for home improvement purposes, these products could be used to fulfil Mr Grey’s unconventional sexual desires”, the memo, which was published by the newspaper, said. In any case, the DIY sales assistants should prepare themselves for “unusual and sensitive queries” and ideally should have read the book. Furthermore, the store managers should make sure they have an adequate supply of the required products in stock.
