Production declines slightly. Germany and Italy produce the most

Worktop production in Central Europe declines slightly. The volume declined by € 38 mio between 2008 and 2013, which amounts to 3.4 per cent. Germany and Italy are the major producing countries with more than 55 per cent of the total volume. The import volume in Central Europe is weakening. The value has declined here by 6.6 per cent since 2008. These are the findings of a study undertaken by the business consultancy company Titze, Neuss (Germany).
According to the study, the export of worktops in Central Europe is showing positive growth. The export volume has grown by 10.5 per cent since 2009 and once more exceeds the value from 2008.
The Central European domestic market supply of worktops reached its highest value in 2008 with € 1 084 bn. After reaching an interim high in 2011, it has since then been on the decline. The current value of € 1 023 bn corresponds to a decrease of 5.6 per cent in comparison to 2008.
