Fediyma declares the total market volume to be just under € 400 bn

The global DIY and Home Improvement market achieved a turnover of € 399 bn in 2013. This figure was determined by the European Manufacturers’ Association, Fediyma. The North American market accounts for € 244.9 bn or around 61 per cent of the world market and Europe accounts for € 130 bn or 32.6 per cent of the total market value. The Asia Pacific region accounts for € 16 bn (four per cent); the biggest markets here are Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
In terms of international expansion, the most active are the British, French and German DIY companies. The French operate a total of 661 and the Germans 837 stores in 26 countries. The British DIY retailers are active in eight countries with 449 stores.
