Dutch CEO at Metrika

Metrika, which operates over 100 DIY stores in the north-west of Russia, has brought some western retailing experience on board. Geert Jan ten Hoonte arrived in mid-November to occupy a director’s seat, according to parent company SBR Corporation. Geert Jan ten Hoonte has decades of experience in managing European retail enterprises and their subsidiaries in eastern Europe. After ten years at the Royal Ahold Group, he was general director of Obi Russia from 2004 to 2006 and then CEO of a string of retail firms in Belarus, Russia, Ukraine and the Czech Republic. At Metrika ten Hoonte heads the operational arm and is also responsible for marketing.
Other Russian DIY companies are also opting for experienced western European managers. Two French nationals, Henri Guyard and Serge Rivet, have been running the businesses of Trust SKM (Superstroy/Stroyarsenal) since mid-2014.
