The St. Petersburg dealer plans up to five stores in the Russian capital
The Russian DIY and building materials merchant Petrovich, one of the market leaders in St. Petersburg, now wants to expand into the Moscow area.The building materials company, operated by the DIY chain Petrovitch in Northwest Russia, plans to open four to five stores in Moscow by the end of 2016. The investment sum is said to be RUB four bn (currently approx. € 69 mio).
According to Viktor Adamov, the general director of Petrovitch, the new branches will be located on the Moscow motorway ring. The first two pre-contracts for the land lease on the important arterial road have already been signed. The average size of the area is expected to be in the region of 3.5 hectares, with a store size of 2 000m² and warehouse size of 8 000 m².
In the medium-term, Petrovitch plans to open eight to twelve branches in the capital. Although the region is a tough challenge, Adamov is nevertheless confident: The Moscow stores should be in the black within 3 years.
