Cooling down in Russia

29.10.2014
The Russian DIY sector will grow on average by seven per cent in the next few years

The cooling down of the retail business sector in Russia is a direct result of the Ukrainian crisis and the sanctions against Russia and the Russian countermeasures. The marketing research company PMR comes to this conclusion in its new study “Retail in Russia 2014”. The medium and long-term prospects are still good, yet this trend is being repeatedly reversed by short-term crises, the market researchers report. They expect an average yearly sales growth of 7.3 per cent for the DIY trade until 2019. The whole retail trade will increase by 8 per cent in 2014 and probably less in 2015, according to their assessment. Whereby the growth rates are kept increasingly high by inflation.
