The British DIY chain has recently recorded a sales increase of 1.5 per cent
The British DIY chain Homebase will close down a quarter of its 323 stores by the end of 2018. The closing of uneconomic stores is part of a three year Productivity Plan. The plan should also take into consideration the experience gained from the 26 trial stores; eleven new stores were added this year and by the end of the year there should be 33.
In the first six months (March to August) of its financial year, Homebase increased its total sales by 1.5 per cent to GBP 834.5 mio, compared to the same period last year. After closing seven stores, the like-for-like sales recorded a growth of 4.1 per cent. The chain’s online sales grew by twelve per cent and now represent approximately seven per cent of the company’s total sales.
