Sir Ian Cheshire to step down at the end of the financial year in January 2015
The British Kingfisher Group is to have a French CEO. The present incumbent, Sir Ian Cheshire, is to step down at the end of the financial year on 31 January 2015. His successor is Véronique Laury, currently CEO of the Castorama distribution channel in France. The decision was taken in the course of the normal contract negotiations of the board of directors with Cheshire, according to a press release.
Cheshire joined Kingfisher in 1998 and has been a board member since 2000. He became chief executive officer of the group in 2008. The new CEO, Véronique Laury, has 26 years’ experience in the DIY sector. She moved to Kingfisher eleven years ago, working as commercial director for Castorama France and subsequently in this capacity for the group as a whole and for B&Q UK & Ireland.
