Cashbuild grows by six per cent

South African retailer opens six pilot DIY stores 

The South African builders merchant and DIY store operator Cashbuild increased its sales in the fiscal year 2013/2014 just completed (ended 30 June 2014) by six per cent to ZAR 6.781 bn. In this period the company opened 15 new stores, rebuilt 20 and relocated seven. It operated 215 stores at the end of the financial year. These figures do not include the six Cashbuild pilot DIY stores that also opened during this period.
The business in South Africa accounted for the largest share of sales, amounting to ZAR 5.889 bn. Sales to the tune of ZAR 568 mio were transacted in Namibia, Swaziland and Lesotho, while Botswana und Malawi brought in sales amounting to ZAR 322 mio.
