Otmar Hornbach has died

The “do-it-yourself” pioneer Otmar Hornbach died on Saturday 2 August at the age of 84. With the death of the company founder an era has come to an end for the Hornbach Group. In 1968 Otmar Hornbach opened his first combined DIY and garden centre in Bornheim near Landau. Within 46 years it has grown into an international company, which today has 144 stores, 27 building material subsidiaries and over 16 000 employees who have recently achieved a turnover of more than € 3.4 bn.
