Potential, especially in Russia

Karl-Erivan Haub, head of the Obi parent company Tengelmann, sees further development potential for the German DIY chain, especially in Russia. Obi currently operates 22 DIY stores here but Haub can imagine an even higher number of between 50 and 100 Russian Obi stores, he said in an interview with the daily newspaper “Die Welt”.
According to Haub there are still six large DIY store operators in Germany, which is just too many. Haub wants the German Obi to grow primarily organically and through intensive appeal to craftsmen. Here he could even imagine a worksite delivery system.
