DIY stores have a market share of 21 per cent

One fifth of the bathroom furniture market in Central Europe comes from DIY and home improvement stores. With a market share of 21 per cent, they are just as important as the bathroom and sanitary ware trade. According to a study by the consulting firm Titze, the German speaking countries hinder a larger share of the DIY market. The study compared the markets of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, France, Great Britain and Italy.
The furniture and kitchen trade is the largest sales channel with a market share of more than 35 per cent. Distance selling comes to twelve per cent, and in Germany and the UK it is already at 17 per cent. Contract business and other stationary distribution channels each have around five per cent of the market share.
