The 300 largest US American retailers, selling DIY goods, made a turnover of USD 228 368 bn last year. That’s 6.4 per cent more than in the previous year according to research made by the specialist magazine Home Channel News. Thousands of small hardware stores, who make less than the annual turnover of USD 15.5 mio of the company on position 300, are not included in this total turnover. Instead the list includes, for example supermarket operators like Walmart or online retailer Amazon.
Topping the list is of course Home Depot and Lowe’s. Their high sales drive the average turnover per market to a high of USD 12.4 mio; without them, this value is only USD 4.06 mio.
