In 2013 sales in the French DIY market came to € 24.48 bn

The French DIY market did not grow in 2013. The total volume of € 24.48 bn was 0.1 per cent less than last year's value € 24.5 bn; back then, the market had grown by 1.9 per cent. If the inflation rate of 0.8 per cent is added, the DIY market 2013 shrank in real terms by 0.9 per cent.These figures were identified by the French manufacturers’ association Unibal. Included are the sales figures for the DIY stores garden segments; without them, the market would have had a volume of € 22.18 bn. The entire garden market was of course badly affected by the long and cold winter. According to the garden association Promojardin the garden trade sales revenue declined by 4.2 per cent to € 7.2 bn.More than three quarters (76.2 per cent) of the DIY market sector is dominated by the DIY stores. Albeit small, they were the only sales channel to experience an increase in France last year: Their accumulated sales increased by 0.2 per cent to € 18 660 bn.Market leader is Groupe Adeo, which has a share of 28.74 per cent. In second place is the British Kingfisher Group with a market share of 25.52 per cent.
