German DIY chain intends to open two more stores this year

Obi opened another store in the Russian Federation at the end of April. It is the German DIY store chain’s 22nd store in Russia. The opening ceremony at the end of April was attended by Obi chairman Dieter Messner. He underlined the significance of the event for his company in his welcoming speech, saying that the Russian market was a priority target for the company’s development and ranked second after Germany. Obi was therefore planning to expand its network of stores in Russia in the future and increase its market share.
The new store in the Otrada shopping mall in Mitino, on the outskirts of Moscow, covers 11 500 m2 and has a range of more than 50 000 products. The Mitino outlet is the third new Obi store in Russia this year after Saratov and Ryazan. Two more stores are also scheduled to open.
