The DIY store chains of the Dutch Maxeda DIY Group may be sold off after the executive board and supervisory board initiated a strategic stocktake. The company operates the retail lines Praxis and Formido in the Netherlands, Brico in Belgium and Luxembourg and Plan-It in Belgium and the Netherlands.
According to a press release, the banks J. P. Morgan and Citi have been tasked with assessing all strategic options for the group’s DIY distribution channels, which “could result in a sale”, says the press release. The aim is to optimise the future potential of the business segments. The stocktake is expected to be completed by the end of the year. The press release quotes statements by the chairman of the supervisory board, Tony DeNunzio, and CEO Roel van Neerbos, which both refer nonetheless to plans for growth.
