The sales in the over-the-counter retail sector in Europe amounted to around € 3.1 trillion; that is 0.1 per cent less than in the previous year. Significant losses were once again suffered by the retail trade in Greece (minus 7.9 per cent), Cyprus (minus 5.1 per cent), the Netherlands (minus 3.6 per cent), Spain (minus 3.5 per cent) and Italy (minus 3.4 per cent).The ranking of the largest retail markets in Europe remained unaffected and continues to be led by Russia, followed by France and Germany. This information results from an analysis carried out by the market research organisation GfK.
