The French DIY store operator Bricorama posted an increase of 1.3 per cent in sales to € 155.5 mio in the first quarter of 2014. Only the company’s sales in France have grown, by 2.38 per cent (like-for-like: three per cent) to € 100.1 mio. The company believes that Sunday opening of the stores, which was introduced at the start of the year, is responsible for this. In Belgium and the Netherlands, on the other hand, sales declined slightly by 0.35 per cent to € 51.1 mio. The 2.8 per cent drop in sales in Spain to € 4.2 mio should be viewed against the backdrop that Bricorama in Seville has closed its biggest store; like-for-like sales increased by 6.8 per cent.
