Trade fair visitor numbers down slightly this year

The four-day IPM International Plant Fair came to an end with an attendance figure of 57 000, which was five per cent down on last year. The world’s leading horticultural fair attracted visitors from 100 countries across the globe to the German city of Essen. Exhibiting there were 1 554 companies, 2.4 per cent more than last year. The international character of the event saw yet another increase: the share of foreign trade visitors rose from around 30 per cent to about 40 per cent. Countries from the Middle East and Asia, as well as Australia, provided the main impulse here. “IPM Essen has again proved that it is the most significant fair for the green industry. It reflects the worldwide market and brings together buyers and sellers. This year it succeeded in further expanding its internationality, which has become a unique feature,” in the summing-up of Oliver P. Kuhrt, chairman of the Messe Essen board of management, and managing director Egon Galinnis. The next IPM will be held from 27 – 30 January 2015.
