Last year saw the 307 Hagebaumarkt stores in Germany achieve net sales of € 1.50 bn, which exceeded the previous year’s record level by 3.8 per cent. The 38 Hagebaumarkt outlets in Austria recorded a total of € 185 mio, representing an increase of 2.7 per cent. The 100 small-format Werkers Welt outlets, which like the Hagebaumarkt stores are serviced by Zeus, the cooperative support centre, and the Hagebau-Kompakt stores increased their sales by two per cent. Altogether the businesses within the Zeus system achieved net sales of € two bn. This amounts to a year-on-year decline of twelve per cent, instead of the expected 14 per cent minus. The reason for the loss is that a number of outlets changed over to the EDE voluntary group last year. That resulted in the number of outlets belonging to the Zeus system falling from 700 to 514. Hagebau increased its centrally invoiced sales by 1.7 per cent. According to interim calculations, last year the total of some 1 600 Hagebau stores in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg purchased goods to the value of € 5.69 bn through the group support centre.
