The French DIY chain Leroy Merlin (Groupe Adeo) opened yet another of its branches in Russia in the period before Christmas. It is the first DIY store in the West Siberian city of Tjumen. So far no other international DIY retail groups are represented in this prosperous oil and gas metropolis. Built at a cost of around € 40 mio, the new store offers a range of 33 000 items over a retail area of some 14 000 m². It is located in Kristall, the biggest shopping centre in the region. Also to be found there is an Auchan hypermarket, which also belongs to Groupe Adeo; this store has been open since February 2013. Customers are offered many facilities in the new Leroy Merlin store, including 27 checkouts and a kitchen-planning department. But the company has not forgotten its 250 employees, either: at their suggestion it has set up an in-house fitness studio. The French DIY retailer is celebrating its tenth Russian anniversary in 2014. The network of stores meanwhile comprises 28 stores in 16 cities within the Russian Federation.
