Sales to the tune of AUD $ 1.999 bn in the first quarter (July-September) of Bunnings’s 2013/2014 financial year mean that the Australian DIY chain achieved an increase of 10.3 per cent. Growth came to 7.1 per cent in like-for-like terms. During these three months Bunnings opened five Warehouse stores and closed two down, so that there were 213 outlets of this format in operation at the end of the quarter. Two smaller Bunnings DIY stores were also closed down (65 outlets). The opening of one builders’ store was offset by the closing down of two others (35 outlets). There are currently 21 new stores in the process of construction.
