At kilometre 25 on the ring motorway around the Russian capital a new DIY Eldorado of more than 500 shops is directed at the creatively inclined. The complex is known as the Konstruktor and consists of two sales areas that complement one another: branches of leading brand names present everything needed for building, renovating and interior decorating on four floors of the commercial centre; a garden centre is also an integral part of this area. The adjoining gallery of relatively small and medium-sized shops offers a complementary range of products geared to both private and trade customers. The Konstruktor is designed to offer a “sophisticated” alternative to the many customary open markets in Russia that sell building materials. The new concept is counteracting the big DIY stores with claims of a bigger range, lower prices and a better advisory service.
