The British Garden Centre Group has acquired The Garden & Leisure Group, a garden centre chain, and integrated its seven outlets into its own network, which has expanded to 139 stores as a result. The Garden Centre Group is the biggest operator of garden centres in the United Kingdom, with the Wyevale outlets included in its portfolio. This is the first relatively major acquisition since the group formed part of the Terra Firma private equity investment firm. The recently acquired Garden & Leisure Group was founded in 1997 by Louis Delhaize, owner of the French Truffaut chain of garden centres.
