Double-digit comparable sales increases reported by market leader Home Depot document a considerably improved situation for the DIY industry in the United States. Based on a total value of US $ 22.522 bn, the rate of increase in comparable terms came to 10.7 per cent overall and 11.4 per cent in the USA. Total sales saw a rise of 9.5 per cent on the same period last year. Sales in the first six months added up to US 41.646 bn, which amounts to 8.5 per cent more than the same period last year. At the end of the first six months the network of stores comprised 2 258 stores in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
