Advertising efforts and road closures on the occasion of the latest new opening by Bauhaus on 2 August 2013 in Mallorca, Spain, led to protests on the part of the local retailers. They were targeting forms of advertising such as the information booths that Bauhaus had set up in various places in advance of the opening. The retail sector maintains that this form of advertising is actually limited to non-profit organisations alone. It is the first Bauhaus outlet on this Spanish holiday island. The company has invested some € 30 mio in the district of Marratxi in setting it up. The store has a sales area of around 14 000 m², a drive-in and a “City Garden”.
