Kingfisher concluded the second quarter of the group’s financial year (to 13 July 2013) with sales up by 5.2 per cent compared with the same period last year. The increase amounted to 2.5 per cent like-for-like. In contrast to the previous quarter, sales again saw growth in all the regions where the British company is actively involved. In France the figure was 3.4 per cent (1.1 per cent like-for-like), in Britain and Ireland 3.6 per cent (2.5 per cent), in Poland 7.5 per cent (3.6 per cent), in Russia 9.4 per cent (9.0 per cent), in Spain 14.4 per cent (-6.1 per cent) and in China 9.7 per cent (10.7 per cent). This establishes a nominal increase of 1.4 per cent for the DIY retail group at the end of its first half-year. However, the first six months ended with a minus of 1.0 per cent in like-for-like terms.
