Will a decision be reached today? The termination of merchandise underwriters’ policies (see Aktiencheck.de and Finanznachrichten.de, etc) has resulted in a state of extreme nervousness among Praktiker’s suppliers. Well-known suppliers from the paint, plumbing and electrical departments among others are removing their products from Praktiker stores. A further scheduled 50 per cent haircut appears to be of little help in view of the current share price (44 cents). Moreover it is doubtful whether it would even be possible to find enough new shareholders. Today’s meeting of the supervisory board that started at 10 am might possibly provide the first indications as to where the Praktiker joyride is heading. At the same time it was announced that Werner Carl, employed as managing director for buying at the Baumarkt Max Bahr Praktiker Einkaufs GmbH since the beginning of 2013, has departed from company again as of 30 June. His responsibilities (marketing/logistics/mechandising) have been taken over by buying director Thomas Heinitz.
