The DIY market in the USA is recovering again and will regain its strength in the next few years. This assumption comes from market researchers Cleveland Research Company, as co-owner Mark Herbek explained at the DIY Summit in Rome. The market researchers expect sales to increase by up to one per cent above the rate of growth of GDP by 2015 and beyond, possibly even more in 2014 and 2015. He listed several indicators for this: the sales growth rates of the DIY retailers are already above those of Walmart; house building has been rallying since 2012, as has the modernisation market as well. Online business still currently plays a subordinate role in the American DIY market, with only two per cent of the sector’s sales going to this distribution channel. Though Amazon, the e-commerce company, is now concentrating more strongly on this segment.
