The Thai DIY group is on the brink of a relatively major wave of expansion and a first step abroad. The intention is to open a first store next year in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, the neighbouring country to the south. The company has published a Bangkok Post report to this effect on announcements made by senior vice president Wannee Juntamongkol. Nine stores altogether are expected to come into operation in Thailand this year, bringing the overall total number of outlets to 62. These will include three stores in the Mega Home Pro format, each of them 15 000 – 20 000 m² in size, that are due for opening in the fourth quarter. This format is aimed at trade professionals, resellers and home owners. This year Home Pro is investing around THB ten bn in its growth plans, twice the amount spent last year.
