Interbrand, a leading global branding consultancy with over 30 offices in 26 countries, has released its latest annual report, “The Best Retail Brands 2013”. Besides the 50 most valuable American retail brands it also lists companies in the German, English and French retail markets. According to the report, in 2013 Aldi is once again the most valuable brand in the retail trade in Germany. The only DIY retailer represented here among the Top 10 is Obi. The company was able to move up one place on last year’s ranking to eighth position, thanks to a two per cent improvement in market value. In France Carrefour remains undisputed in the top spot. Leroy Merlin, another DIY retailer, was able to hang onto third position like last year (+ 4 per cent increase in market value). Tesco heads the field in Britain as the company with the greatest market value. Kingfisher, unlisted in previous years, ranks eleventh.
