Market leader in Switzerland sees latest sales down by 2.4 per cent

Last year Coop Bau + Hobby, the leading retailer in the Swiss DIY market, recorded sales of CHF 718 mio, which amounts to a loss of 2.4 per cent. Two new branches were added to the network for a total of 74. This means that the combined retail area saw growth of 3.2 per cent to some 302 000 m². At the company’s press briefing on annual results, CEO Joos Sutter said that the emphasis on expansion of expertise in the garden sector was getting a good reception. So far the new Garden Paradise concept had been implemented at 17 outlets, with 13 more scheduled to follow in 2013. In this area Coop is being advised by Dehner, a German garden centre expert. Sutter highlighted his company’s position as Switzerland’s green DIY retailer per se with its diverse range of sustainable products.
