Byggmax sales up for full year

Fourth quarter characterised by marked decline, however

Having experienced a drop in the fourth quarter, the Swedish Byggmax Group completed the 2012 financial year with sales to the amount of SEK 2.9871 bn. That is 3.5 per cent more than last year. Nevertheless, like-for-like sales were 2.7 per cent down. The company opened eight new stores – four in Sweden, three in Norway and one in Finland – and so had 94 outlets at the end of the year. In the fourth quarter Byggmax remained 4.9 per cent below the previous year’s comparable sales level. The minus amounted to 9.4 per cent in like-for-like terms. The company sees the reasons for this in consumer restraint and a flat housing market.
